Choosing the best metal for an outdoor sign
There is no single best outdoor metal because exposure, appearance, maintenance, weight and budget can point to different materials.

Outdoor does not describe one environment
A sheltered city entrance, a beachfront wall, a pool enclosure and a roadside site with de-icing salt are all outdoors but create different corrosion and cleaning conditions.
Specify the whole system
Fasteners, studs, backing plates and coatings can undermine a good face material if they are incompatible with the environment.
Use material upgrades where the risk is real
Premium grades should solve a defined exposure problem. Unnecessary upgrades increase cost, while under-specifying a chloride environment can create avoidable staining and rework.
